Privacy Policy
In plain terms
- Booking with us means giving us your license photo and a selfie — that's the trade-off that lets us skip the credit check. We use it only to verify it's really you.
- We share what's necessary with payment processors, insurers, and our rental locations — we don't sell your personal information.
- You can ask what we have on you, correct it, or ask us to delete it, subject to records we're legally required to keep (Section 8).
01 Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how EasyRide Rentals LLC, 5084 Bristor Dr, Sterling Heights, MI 48310 ("EasyRide," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects personal information when you visit our website, book a rental, or rent a vehicle from us. It applies alongside our Terms of Service and Rental Agreement.
02 What we collect
Information you give us
- Contact details — name, email, phone number, billing address;
- Driver's license information and a photo of your license;
- A live selfie photo, used to verify you're the person on the license;
- Payment information, handled by our payment processor (see Section 5);
- Booking details — pickup/return location, dates, vehicle class, protection plan selected; and
- Anything you send our support team or include in a review.
Information collected automatically
- Device and browser information, IP address, and approximate location;
- Pages visited and actions taken on the Site, via cookies and similar technology (Section 7); and
- For picked-up vehicles, telematics data such as GPS location, mileage, and fuel level, used for fleet management, roadside assistance, and recovery of overdue vehicles.
03 License & identity verification
Because we don't run a credit check, our approval process relies more heavily on confirming identity. When you book, we collect a photo of your driver's license and a live selfie, and use an identity-verification provider to confirm the selfie matches the license and that the license appears genuine and unexpired.
Your selfie is used only for this one-time identity match at booking. We don't use facial recognition to track you across visits, and we don't sell biometric data to anyone.
Where state law treats a face scan or biometric identifier as a special category of data (for example, under Illinois, Texas, or Washington biometric privacy laws), we collect and use it only with the consent you provide during booking, and in accordance with the retention limits in Section 6.
04 How we use it
- To verify your identity and license, and approve or decline a booking;
- To process payment, the security deposit, and any charges owed after return;
- To communicate with you about a booking, including confirmations, reminders, and support requests;
- To administer protection plans and process claims with our insurance partners;
- To improve the Site, our fleet operations, and fraud prevention; and
- To meet legal, tax, and regulatory recordkeeping obligations.
We don't use your license photo, selfie, or payment details for advertising, and we don't sell that information to third parties.
05 Who we share it with
| Who | Why |
|---|---|
| Identity verification provider | To match your selfie to your license and confirm the license is valid |
| Payment processor | To process rental charges and the security deposit |
| Insurance partners | To administer protection plans and process damage or liability claims |
| Rental location staff | To confirm your identity and hand over the vehicle at pickup |
| Law enforcement / government | Where required by law, subpoena, or to report an overdue/unrecovered vehicle |
If EasyRide is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the same protections described here.
06 How long we keep it
- License photo & selfie: retained for the length of your rental plus a limited window afterward for fraud and dispute resolution, then deleted — typically within 90 days of return, unless a claim, dispute, or legal hold requires longer retention.
- Booking & payment records: retained as required for tax, accounting, and legal purposes, generally up to 7 years.
- Account & contact information: retained while your account is active, and for a reasonable period after, in case you return.
07 Cookies & tracking
We use cookies and similar technology to keep you logged in, remember booking preferences, and understand how the Site is used so we can improve it. You can control cookies through your browser settings; turning off non-essential cookies shouldn't prevent you from booking, but may affect convenience features like saved search preferences.
08 Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate information;
- Request deletion of your information, subject to records we're required to retain by law (such as completed rental and payment records);
- Opt out of the sale or "sharing" of personal information — though as noted in Section 4, we don't sell this information in the first place; and
- Appeal a decision we make about your request.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 12. We'll confirm your identity before processing a request involving sensitive information like your license or selfie.
09 Security
We use industry-standard safeguards — encryption in transit, access controls, and restricted internal access — to protect personal information, including license and identity-verification data. No system is perfectly secure, and we'll notify affected users and regulators as required by law if a breach affecting personal information occurs.
10 Children's privacy
The Site is intended for users 18 and older, consistent with the minimum age to book or rent a vehicle. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we've collected such information, we'll delete it.
11 Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our practices or applicable law change. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes — particularly around how license or identity data is used — we'll provide more direct notice.
